Beyond the building blocks, ProcessModel adds two subsystems other tools gloss over: a gate that genuinely controls flow, and caseload for work that stays with one person.
A gate opens and closes to control when work moves on, driven by a schedule, a signal, or downstream demand. Set its default state and put it on a clock with time windows or a shift calendar, open or close it from a condition or from logic, or run it as a pull or kanban control. Release one at a time, in batches, at a limited rate, or all at once.
Bind a case to one worker who serves it on every visit, the pattern behind a named nurse, a case worker, or an account manager. Cap how many cases and how much workload each can carry, weight a case by something like acuity, and hand work off automatically at shift change. Open the Track Board during a run to watch every caseload against its limits.
